Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating effect of growth rumination on the effect of resilience in suicide survivors on post-traumatic growth. The study subjects were 369 suicide survivors over the age of 18 who lived in Korea and had been widowed for more than 3 months, and the final survey results of 310 people were analyzed using a structural equation model. The analysis showed that the higher the resilience, the higher the post-traumatic growth and the higher the growth rumination. In addition, there was a mediating effect of growth rumination in the effect of resilience on post-traumatic growth.
Based on these findings, mental health experts have proposed strategies to promote resilience through education and counseling for post-traumatic growth of suicide survivors, and to develop cognitive programs and activate self-help groups to support the growth rumination process.
